1441. India And Russia Sign Protocol To Deepen Industrial Cooperation In Aluminium, Railways, And Mining
- On August 6, 2025, India and Russia held the 11th session of their Working Group on Modernisation and Industrial Cooperation at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, co-chaired by officials from DPIIT (India) and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
- The session focused on cooperation in aerospace technology, small aircraft engine production, 3D printing, carbon fibre, and critical minerals extraction, aiming to review progress since the 10th session and promote technology transfer, industrial infrastructure, and sustainable development.
- The session concluded with the signing of a Protocol, reaffirming the strategic India-Russia partnership. About 80 delegates from both nations participated. Separately, Russia’s Deputy Defence Minister met India’s Ambassador in Moscow, reflecting ongoing high-level defence cooperation in a warm and trusted diplomatic atmosphere.

1442. Indian Railways partners Indofast Energy to roll out battery swap stations in Hyderabad, Secunderabad
- On August 7, 2025, It was reported that, Indian Railways partnered with Indofast Energy to install 80 battery swapping stations across 25 key railway stations (56 in Secunderabad and 24 in Hyderabad), with plans to add 40 more in the next three months.
- Led by South Central Railway, these swap stations are set up within station premises to support electric two- and three-wheelers, aiming to improve last-mile connectivity for commuters, delivery partners, and ride-sharing operators, while promoting the Railway Board’s e-mobility vision.
- With a vision to reach over one million EV users, Indofast Energy plans to install 10,000+ battery swapping stations across 40+ cities in the next three years a major stride toward building a cleaner and more efficient urban transport ecosystem.
1443. भारत की सबसे लम्बी दूरी की ट्रेन हिमसागर एक्सप्रेस (जम्मू से कन्याकुमारी तक) को पहली बार हरी झंडी दिखाई गई।
- 3 अक्टूबर 1984 को जम्मू-कश्मीर से 16317 / 16318 हिमसागर एक्सप्रेस को पहली बार हरी झंडी दिखाकर कन्याकुमारी के लिए रवाना किया गया था, और यह उस समय देश की सबसे लंबी दूरी तय करने वाली ट्रेन थी।
- यह ट्रेन जम्मू-कश्मीर के कटड़ा से चलकर तमिलनाडु के कन्याकुमारी तक 3,790 किमी की दूरी 73 घंटों में तय करती है, और मार्ग में 69 रेलवे स्टेशनों पर रुकती है।
- हिमसागर एक्सप्रेस 12 राज्यों से होकर गुजरती है , जम्मू-कश्मीर, पंजाब, हरियाणा, दिल्ली, उत्तर प्रदेश, राजस्थान, मध्य प्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र, आंध्र प्रदेश, तेलंगाना, केरल और तमिलनाडु। यह ट्रेन वर्तमान में दुनिया में 35वीं, और भारत में तीसरी सबसे लंबी दूरी तय करने वाली ट्रेन है।
1444. Northern Railway Signs PPA with THDC for 400 MW Hydro Power to Achieve Net Zero by 2030
- On July 31, 2025, Northern Railway signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with THDC India Limited (THDCIL) for 400 MW of hydroelectric power to move towards becoming a Net Zero carbon emitter by 2030.
- The agreement was signed in Rishikesh between Northern Railway’s CEDE and THDCIL’s. The power will come from the Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project (1200 MW) in Arunachal Pradesh. Northern Railway has already secured 621 MW of renewable energy from other developers, and this deal further boosts its green power capacity.
- The initiative supports Indian Railways’ sustainability goals, ensures a steady supply of clean energy, and aligns with India’s climate commitments under the “Panchamrit” announced at COP26.
1445. Make In India Boost: Defence Ministry clears Rs 67,000 crore projects HAL, BEL, BDL
- On August 5, 2025, The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved Rs 67,000 crore projects to strengthen the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
- The projects, focused on the Make in India initiative, will involve major defence PSUs like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL).
- The Army will get thermal night sights for BMP vehicles, Navy will get autonomous surface crafts, upgraded BrahMos and BARAK-1 systems and the Air Force will get mountain radars, upgraded SPYDER systems, MALE drones for all services, and maintenance for C-17, C-130J, and S-400 systems.
- These acquisitions aim to enhance India’s surveillance, mobility, and combat readiness across land, sea, and air, while promoting indigenous defence manufacturing and reducing dependency on foreign suppliers.
1446. Nagaland CM launches 51 school infra projects to realize NEP 2020 goals
- On August 2, 2025, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio virtually inaugurated 51 school infrastructure projects under the Samagra Shiksha scheme from his residential complex in Kohima, marking a significant step toward realizing National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 goals.
- The projects, spanning multiple districts, include 15 new school buildings, 17 additional classrooms, 18 teachers’ quarters, and one residential hostel, aimed at replacing temporary structures with permanent, high-quality facilities to enhance education access, particularly in remote areas.
- Advisor Kekhrielhoulie Yhome highlighted that 86% of the 16,087 rooms in Nagaland’s government schools are instructional, with the Samagra Shiksha scheme targeting one lakh out-of-school children by 2030, while State Mission Director L. Jamithung Lotha noted the scheme’s integration of SSA, RMSA, and Teacher Education for holistic education reform.

1447. Titan Capital and iDEX sign MoU to boost investment in iDEX
- On August 5, 2025, Titan Capital an early-stage venture capital firm, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX)to promote innovation in defence and aerospace.
- Titan Capital is known for over 250 startups including Ola, Urban Company, and Mamaearth, will now focus on strategic, deep-tech, and defence sectors. The MoU, Titan Capital aims to actively support startups in the iDEX ecosystem by providing early capital, operational mentorship, and access to commercial and dual-use market pathways.
- The partnership aims to accelerate innovation in India’s national security technologies, strengthen indigenous defence capabilities, and foster a new generation of defence-tech entrepreneurs.
1448. SAP Labs opens second campus in Bengaluru with €194 mn investment
- On 5 August 2025, SAP Labs inaugurated its second campus on the outskirts of Bengaluru, India, with an investment of €194 million. The new facility, announced by MD Sindhu Gangadharan, has a capacity of 15,000 employees and complements SAP's existing office in the city’s tech hub.
- The expansion comes as SAP doubles down on AI-driven R&D from India, its largest R&D base outside Germany. With 40% of its global R&D workforce in India, SAP aims to lead innovation in AI across solutions like S/4 HANA, HXM, and sustainability tools. The new campus supports its goal of embedding AI expertise into every developer role.
- SAP Labs India employs 14,000 people in Bengaluru, which will rise to 29,000 with the new campus. 75% of SAP engineers have received AI training, and 90% already use AI tools. India contributes 25% of SAP’s global patents, and the company collaborates with academia to promote research publications and technical innovation.
1449. Miniratna PSU BEML bags ₹282 crore HMV order from Ministry of Defence
- On August 4, 2025, State owned Miniratna PSU BEML announced it had secured a ₹282 crore order from the Ministry of Defence to supply 8x8 Heavy Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) for the Indian armed forces. The announcement was made after market hours, and the company’s shares closed nearly flat on August 5, 2025.
- The 8x8 HMVs are high capacity military transport vehicles designed for multiple uses, including carrying missiles, tanks, and heavy military equipment. BEML confirmed the order through a filing with the BSE, stating that these vehicles will enhance the mobility and operational readiness of India’s defence forces.
- The company is a leading manufacturer in the defence sector, has been expanding its role in indigenous equipment production. This contract strengthens India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing and reinforces BEML’s strategic role in supplying critical military hardware.
1450. Philippines grants visa-free entry to Indians as PM promises more direct flights
- On 5 August 2025, during Philippine President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr.'s visit to New Delhi, India and the Philippines elevated their ties to a strategic partnership and announced key initiatives including visa-free entry for Indian tourists to the Philippines, free e-visa for Philippine travellers to India, and plans for direct Delhi-Manila flights.
- Improving ease of travel between the two countries is a key part of this partnership. With visa processes being simplified and direct air links in the pipeline, both governments are working to encourage tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange.
- The flights will operate five times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays—using Airbus A321neo aircraft. The aircraft will feature a three-class configuration: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy.
